Who still doesn’t have KakaoTalk installed on their smartphones? Here in Korea, it’s the most popular communication app with millions of users using it on a daily basis. On Chuseok day, it was reported that there was a lag with its messaging services due to the volume of users and the messages exchanged. Of course, the whole country is celebrating a special holiday and everyone wants to wish everyone they know a warm Chuseok holiday.
I love the versatility of KakaoTalk. Not only do I can send and receive messages for free, but I can also take advantage of the free calls. Another favorite feature is the “Gift Shop” that enable me to surprise friends with coupons for coffee ;p
My friends and I have our own group chat and it’s a faster way to exchange messages than Facebook or SMS. When I was vacationing in the US last year, I had to turn off the notification as the beeps would wake me up at 3 o’clock in the morning! There are times when we would exchange about 500 messages a day in our group chat! Most of my friends have Android phones, a few have Apple and two have Blackberry. With KakaoTalk, we could talk to each other across platforms.
Another feature of KaTalk (as we call it) that I like is the Plus Friends. Here, you could follow your favorite brands and even favorite Kpop groups! One of my Plus Friends is “요리톡” – it delivers a Korean recipe everyday!
Are you on Kakao yet? If not, download the app ASAP ;p
